The Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Debrecen pays particular attention to internationalisation, including the creation and ensuring of the conditions of mobility. We attach particular importance to the processes of “Internationalisation at Home”, which play a considerable role in preparing students for a globalised world, such as working and communicating in an intercultural environment. The Faculty has an extensive domestic and international network of relationships. We have developed close professional cooperation with several institutes of higher education and other organisations in Hungary, across Europe and overseas. Primarily due to this, our students, who are well-prepared both professionally and from the point of view of language proficiency, can participate in study-abroad programmes, in the framework of the ERASMUS programme and other mobility scholarship programmes, at a number of prestigious universities in Europe and on other continents, such as Wageningen University; Humbolt Universität; Universität Hohenheim; University of Udine; Universiteit Gent, Chongqing Normal University, Jyväskylä University, Mongolian University of Life Sciences, Babeş-Bolyai University, University of Oradea, Narxos University (Kazakhstan), Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), ADA University, AZT University (Azerbaijan), La Salle EMCI (France), Nantong University, SolBridge International School of Business (Korea), Universidad de la CEMA (Argentina), Universidad Católica del Norte (Chile), Universidad de Monterrey (Mexico), University of Jordan, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Indonesia), College of Management Academic Studies (Israel). In addition to our existing partners, we are also currently applying for grants to establish additional partnerships, based on initial contact made by us or by prospective partners, with universities in regions in which our partnerships are less extensive: South Africa (Stellenbosch University, Cape Peninsula University of Technology), Namibia (University of Namibia, Namibia University of Technology and Science, International University of Management), which may open towards the African continent, and we also plan to start partnerships in Georgia, Tajikistan and Brazil. Through our membership in the Academic Professional Body of the Hungarian Microfinance Network, we are working towards establishing partnerships with French (ESC Dijon) and Spanish (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) institutions relevant for graduate courses, for the exchange of good practices. We currently have contractual relationships with 49 European universities, so all of these are open to receiving students. The Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Debrecen has a partnership with a total of 74 foreign universities. The “Ihrig Károly” Doctoral School and the Faculty of Economics, closely linked to it, consider international relations and internationalisation – no matter how much of a priority object it is – not simply as a means of improving the financing situation, but also expects a number of other spill-over effects from it. These include the improvement of the position of the doctoral programme and the faculty in various rankings, increasing the competitiveness and satisfaction of the teaching faculty and researchers, helping graduates find employment even faster and more successfully than currently, as well as enhancing the attractiveness of the city and the region.
We also maintain continuous contact with the parent institutions of our international students by way of concluding bilateral international agreements and visiting their institutions (University of Ahmad Dahlan, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Sam Ratulangi University (UNSRAT) Manado - Indonesia).
